These nifty bars have become a staple in my pantry, my car, my purse, and the kids’ lunches. Many healthy bars taste well, just too darn healthy and the kids (and I) don’t like them. Or the ones the kids do like are loaded with sugar and are short on protein, which is the opposite of what most Moms are looking for in a snack choice. There are so many bars to chose from out there, but the ones below have been hits with my family, and their sugar content is low. Remember that when it says 16 grams of sugar, you divide the sixteen by 4, and that is how many teaspoon equivalents of sugar they contain.
KIND bars are nutty, hearty and yet also taste sweet. My favorite is the apricot one. I also like that the company gives at least 5% of the profits to charities around the world to promote kindness.

My son is slightly addicted to Z Bars made by Cliff, the chocolate chip flavor is his all time favorite. I have been know to leave one on his bedside table for his extra early wake- ups, and actually the Z bar has enabled this Mommy to gain a few more ZZZs at the break of day.

My husband and I are also fans of the LARA BAR, a ground up fruit and nut bar that comes in an interesting array of flavors. I like the Cherry Pie Flavor. They now sell them in tiny sizes perfect for a school snack.

We’re all cranky when we get hungry. Now, next time your child asks if you remembered to bring a snack, you can pull out one of these . Who knows what kind of meltdown might be averted?

I love larabars. I’ve been getting all kinds of bars to sample lately and other minimally processed ones I’ve been enjoying are the ones by Vega and the Amazing Grass Superfood (in chocolate of course)
