The Bar Method Workout for a new you in 2010

web-group1The time is here for New Year’s Resolutions.  No more excuses. This shall be the year of the body.  Come to think of it, I think that that was my last year’s resolution too, okay maybe the year before that, too. But seriously, my youngest is five, so I can no longer attribute all my wiggles and jiggles to, “I just had a baby.”

I really don’t like running, I always feel it pounds my knees. I find the gym depressing cycling on a bike going nowhere, while everyone is plugged in to some headphones. The Bar Method in West Hollywood is the best exercise program I have found in LA. The Bar Method feels like a cross between yoga, ballet and palates. The workout is vigorous, and I sometimes feel like I am going to fall over working muscles that I forgot I had.  The class’s works out the entire body, starting with weights and push-ups for the arms, then bar work for the legs and behind, followed by an intense abdominal series.

There are no big machines, instead, you use your body’s own weight for resistance to tone and shape All the instructors are so knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.  After I complete a bar method work out, I feel stronger inside and out.  I have more energy and I feel like my posture is better. The one-hour workout is incredibly efficient. I find it manageable to squeeze into my busy day.  I go to the West Hollywood location, but there is a Bar Method Studio  in West Los Angeles, and the Valley too.

The Bar Method has a special rate for your first month unlimited classes is only $100.00.  Or they offer a New Mom’s Special of three months unlimited classes for $500.00, both are amazing deals. After that you can pay for a series or individual classes. The more classes you buy, the more affordable they are. I know how hard it is to carve out time for yourself and exercise. But you will feel so good if you start getting your body back. Try The Bar Method.  You’ll love how you feel.

That’s so funny. I just went to my second class today and can barely move my arms – using my body in a completely different way than I’m used to. Here’s to greater flexibility and better posture for 2010!
