When I think of going to art openings, I think of my former pre-kid life. I’d walk through SoHo and pop into a gallery, have a glass of wine, and become inspired by an emerging artist’s new work. Then I moved to LA, had my kids, and the most frequent art I gaze at is finger paint. How sad is that? Actually I do go to museums frequently here but mainly with the kids, who last about an hour in a large museum, and then they want lunch. But Tinlark Gallery in Hollywood is different. It is a small gallery and kids are always welcome. Tinlark was started by Cris McCall, who has impeccable taste in art, and design, and was also the founder of Fresh StART, an annual charity art sale that raises money for therapeutic programs for at risk youth. Tinlak’s mission is to create a welcoming environment where collectors can find affordably priced art. Tinlark searches out the finest young talent and is committed to nurturing emerging artists. Tinlark has been around for three years and is celebrating its 3rd Anniversary this Saturday from 6-9pm featuring 30 small works by 30 great artists. Drop by. Bring the kids, and they even have some kids’ crafts that they can work on, while you browse through the gallery. You will get a glimpse of some wonderful new work, and maybe even re-connect with your former self.
