Great new kid friendly restaurant– Mendocino Farms West Hollywood

by Lee Rose Emery

The other day I had the chance to check out Mendocino Farm’s grand opening in West Hollywood. Mendocino Farms is a casual delicious neighborhood sandwich joint. They are located on Santa Monica Boulevard next to the Target complex.(Just west of Bev Mo.)  So if you park at Target, do some shopping,  you now have a great eatery where you can take the kids for lunch. The food is so fresh and the sandwiches are served on delicious Artisan bread, with local ingredients.  They also feature a $3.95 kids menu. So when you just don’t feel like cooking (which is for me pretty much every day) there is a cozy reasonably priced restaurant for take out or a quick meal on the go. They also have a great assortment of catering options. If you are having a luncheon or baby shower – how convenient to just order a tray of gourmet sandwiches and yummy salad and be done with it.

The owners are LACityMom and Dad, Ellen Chen and Mario del Pero. I had sampled their food before at my son’s school as they had brought picnic fare several times – but never had I been to their restaurants. Mario was telling me a little bit about their business philosophy. They have great salads, sides and soups all inspired from local Farmer’s Market, but at the end of the day they want to be the true Sandwich Aficionados place to enjoy their passion. They also strive to make Mendocino Farms a part of the communities they inhabit. He wants his restaurants to be in neighborhoods where people walk and live their lives other as opposed to a mall in the middle of nowhere.

The bright airy feel of Mendocino Farms has a great urban casual vibe. They set up this cute kids table for the Mommy Bloggers Lunch, but they always have the chalkboard that kids can scribble on. I know you will love the food, as I have sampled a lot of it, and my harshest food critic (my 7 year old) loves the Panini rolls stuffed with salami and cheese. The fact that there is a new place I can take him where he’ll have something other than a bowl of pasta, is worth the drive in itself.I think if you try it Mendocino Farms it is sure to become your favorite local sandwich shop
