Here’s a tip that every Mom should have up her sleeve: fool proof chocolate chip cookies. My friend, Andrea, fabulous LACityMom – mother of four!? brought these to a kindergarten picnic and they were the best cookies any of us had ever tasted. She was kind enough to share her secret. These are so easy to make, but there is a trick to them: make the dough ahead of time and freeze it overnight. Store the dough in baggies in the freezer. The next day or any day after, break off the dough into cookie sized bits and cook it straight from the freezer. This makes the cookies puffier, and more delicious, don’t ask me how.  Bake a whole batch or save a little dough in the freezer so you always have some ready to go. Then at any gathering you can simply pull out some dough, and voila, you are the perfect hostess and Mom, at a moment’s notice serving a plate of hot, scrumptious chocolate chip cookies. We all need some tricks like this to bolster that illusion of perfection. Try them and let me know what you think!

2 sticks of butter – softened
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup golden brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Cream together.  Then add:

3 cups flour (you can use all purpose, but I like to use whole wheat)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Chocolate chips (1 whole regular size pack)

To make them nice and thick, freeze the dough or freeze it
overnight.
Bake @ 350 degrees about 8-10 minutes
